1st International Practice Day on Sustainability and Soil Protection
SUSTAINABILITY has many aspects, approaches, and possibilities of interpretation, technical-theoretical as well as down-to-earth-practical. It becomes especially interesting, when theory and practice, responsibility and action come together ...
Exactly this topic was dealt with at an event at the Lilienhof in St. Poelten, where an interested expert audience from Lower Austria and the Danube region was presented with sustainable projects and ideas in the fields of environmental and soil protection.
The vision of a responsible life in the direct interaction of society often is the common denominator of various approaches towards sustainability. Recollecting values. The attempt to implement and develop further these values in an exchange in partnership into actions, products, and projects. Planners and designers, entrepreneurs and consumers, special interest groups and voluntary organizations, social institutions, administration and politics - all are required to cooperate in finding new, sustainable solutions.
Within the scope of activity of some departments of the Lower Austrian Government, for more than 4 years sustainable projects have been supported in a targeted manner, and wherever possible, implemented into administrational practice. On the basis of the practical experience thus gained, four projects have been introduced and presented on the basis of a workshop.
The best-practice example of "Social Production" earned much approval, with many concrete examples, such as waste container recycling, innovative processing of waste from production, canvas recycling, Craftwork shoe workshop, and "creative design of packaging". Further workshops were held on the topics of "soil as an indicator / counseling using soil maps in the European Year of Volunteering", "Soilart - experiencing sustainability by a connection between natural science,
"arts and history", as well as "sustainably moved", at sports and fun in the mini-football pitch of the "football cage".
At the end of the event, a large surprise buffet was offered from the "LEFTOVERS-COOKING LINE" of the KOMUNITAS OG, and there were many more discussions about future cooperations between science, administration, enterprises and NGOs.
