The Austrian Soil Science Society, the AGES and the Federal Environment Agency warmly invited to the spring meeting 2015 of the Soil Forum Austria.
The Soil Forum has been held twice a year in Austria since 2002 and offers all those interested an established format for exchanging information, communicating and discussing current topics on the ground.

Theme of the Spring Meeting 2015:
Soil awareness in Austria in the International Year of the Soil
Awareness of the vulnerability and importance of our soils to our society and our future lives is of great importance.
Despite many excellent initiatives in the field of education and advances on the implementation of soil protection at the legal and political level in many areas, soil awareness is and remains one of the main tasks and challenges in soil conservation.
Only through education and political and legal protection can we preserve our soils with all their vital tasks for us in the future.
In the International Year of the Soil (IYS) special attention should be given to raising awareness. In Austria, many great initiatives have been successfully implemented in recent years and the experts also offer many new ideas and projects that are waiting to be brought to life. A particular challenge is always to bring the information to the target groups and to put the soil in the light of media attention.
In order to present the activities in Austria, especially in the IYS, to promote new ideas, to support each other as efficiently as possible and to find common strategies for media activities, the Soil Forum Austria met in spring 2015 at the invitation of the Lower Austrian Provincial Government / Lower Austrian Agricultural Department / Department of Land Development in Tulln on the Danube.
