Hybrid between pear and common whitebeam (Sorbus aria). Different varieties:

'Bollwiller pear' 15th century/Alsace, 'Baciu'/Romania, 'Tartarova Hruska'/Prague 'Smokvarka'/Macedonia. Frostproof up to -28°C.


Growth habit and height:

Tree or large shrub, up to 10 m tall.


Location

Sun, not particular - grows in various types of soil.


Uses

3-5 cm large fruits. August to October. R/Chinesaw consumption, puree or jam.
