Seiringer: 20 Years of Innovation and Know-How from the Region – April 15, 2011
„Innovative, with a tendency towards perfection and courage for something new", such Regional Minister for the Environment, Dr. Stephan Pernkopf has described the farmer and entrepreneur Hubert Seiringer at today's opening of the first bio-waste recovery plant of the region.
Hubert Seiringer has built up this unique and model first-class enterprise with his committed and competent team in years of work with much idealism, pioneering spirit and steadfastness.
From the first attempts of composting up to today's size and complexity of the enterprise, 20 (innovative) years have gone by, in which Seiringer's enterprise has constantly developed further, and always felt closely related to the cycle of nature.
Hubert Seiringer proudly presented the achievements of this enterprise at the opening ceremony to approx. 100 guests: "We produce high-quality products out of organic waste. For 15 years we have now achieved the best quality, which is also permitted for biological cultivation. Our composting plant additionally leads to saving proven 44% of CO2, this corresponds to the engine power of 3.5 wind wheels.
All raw materials processed in our enterprise stem from the region. The significance of compost for the protection of water and soil was illustrated to the guests of the opening ceremony by the technical lectures of Gerald Dunst and Peter Strauss: "We also have to care for soils for the coming generations", stated Gerald Dunst in his lecture, which resembled a pleading for healthy soil. "For only fertile soil is able to store water, to clean water, and to store nutrients for plants", he explained, and described Hubert Seiringer as a pioneer of correct composting. And who composts correctly, is actively engaged in environmental proection. Also soil expert Peter Strauss emphasized that the improvement of soils through compost is not only important for their harvest, but also for filtering and storing water, and that it further protects against erosion.
This was also affirmed by moderator Dr. Erwin Szlezak from the Department of Rural Development, who stands for a sensible treatment of the resource of soil together with his team.
The new bio-waste recovery plant of Seiringer's enterprise is a shining example of environment-friendly cycle economy to the decision makers in the region and to every single citizen, which is especially in our times in greater demand than ever. Hubert Seiringer, however, is not fully satisfied, for he is already active in implementing another vision. He dares the topic of energy in the form of the "Mostviertel biogas project" - the easily degradable substances from biological waste shall in the future be used for the recovery of biogas. "Any biogenic waste can be used in an optimal way", according to Seiringer's conviction.
And, as is known, nothing is as strong as an idea, for which the time has come.
