St. Poelten (October 2nd, 2007) On Sunday, Landesrat Josef Plank handed over soil plates to seven municpalities, i.e. Eschenau on the Traisen, Furth-Goettweig, Kirchberg on the Pielach, Maria Taferl, Obritzberg, Stetteldorf-Wagram and Zwentendorf, in the course of the day out "Fertile Soil" and of the harvest festival at Furth-Goettweig. "Healthy soils stand for healthy food. The significance of soil as base of nutrition has largely fallen into oblivion. Soils are an essential base of life for man, on which more than 90 per cent of all food, of animal fodder, and of fibers are produced. Therefore I am very pleased that the awarded municipalities stand for healthy soils in a sustainable manner", emphasized Mr. Plank.

Subsequent to the awarding of municipalities, there was a vivid framework program for all members of the families, such, for instance, there was a commented walking-tour on the loam and wine topic trail up to the monastery of Goettweig, painting with the Colours of the Earth, a barefoot obstacle course, a view through the soil microscope, a visit to the monastery, as well as musical contributions.
