ERDREICH Award 2023 "The Award for Sustainable Soil and Land Use" - SUBMISSION DEADLINE extended until 30.09.2023!
This year, the Ministry of Climate Protection is once again awarding the ERDREICH AWARD, which was launched in 2022, and would like to honor those projects that focus on soil protection, contribute to improving soil quality and reducing soil consumption.
From June 1st to September 15th, municipalities, companies, associations, organizations, initiatives and private individuals can submit entries for the ERDREICH AWARD 2023 at www.erdreich-preis.at.
"Healthy soil is our life insurance. It is the basis for food production, it is an important ally in the fight against the climate crisis, it protects against floods. Every contribution to protect the soil in sufficient quality and quantity is important. I look forward to many exciting showcase projects that motivate and encourage others! We need civil society commitment for the mindful use of soil as a precious resource," says Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler.
Submission possible in five categories
The ERDREICH PRIZE is awarded in five categories:
In the category Soil Health, those initiatives are sought that contribute to a qualitative improvement of the soil and to the preservation of soil fertility.
In the category of land saving, those projects can be submitted that are dedicated to the efficient use of soils, for example in the context of land use in local centers.
There is also a separate category for land recycling, in which anyone can submit projects that revitalize brownfield sites or reuse previously developed land.
The topic of participation also has its own category: here, practical examples of how the population is involved in the topic of soil protection are called for.
The fifth category is all about municipal pioneers. Municipalities and cities can submit entries that have implemented a wide range of measures for qualitative and quantitative soil protection on their municipal territory.
An independent jury of experts will select the winners.
The prizes will be awarded at a ceremony in the Ankerbrotfabrik on November 27th, 2023.
