SONDAR: Cross-Border School Competition „Painting with the Colours of the Earth”
The kick-off of the competition will take place on Thursday, February 23, 2012. The deadline for submission of finished pieces of art is April 20, 2012.
For thousands of years, man has painted „with the Colours of the Earth", that is with colour pigments which are directly extracted from soil.
Within the framework of the Lower Austrian soil protection campaign „Our soil - we stand upon it", colour pigments have been produced from domestic soils, packed into a pleasant PAINT BOX made of wood by the EMMAUS St. Poelten social project, and distributed to schools.
"Painting with the Colours of the Earth" has up to now earned the enthusiasm of more than 25,000 school girls and boys as well as educators.
Painting and designing with soil colours and natural materials is now being continued with subsidy by the European Union within the framework oft he SONDAR SK-AT and SONDAR HU-AT projects. A total of 100 educational institutions in Slovakia, Hungary, and Lower Austria are invited to deal in practice with painting and designing with soil colours under technical supervision, and to participate in a creative competition from February 23 to April 20, 2012.
The best paintings will be part of an international exposition and serve as ambassadors for a responsible treatment of soil!
