Soil and climate: Soil as a natural carbon sink

CO2 reduction through the conservation and rewetting of peatlands
Online workshop, November 24th, 2023, 10 a.m. to  12 p.m.

In view of the ongoing climate crisis, soil is increasingly being recognized as an important natural carbon sink. The Soil & Land Alliance and the Climate Alliance are focusing on this topic in their workshop series "Soil and Climate". It starts with the importance of protecting peatlands.
The event on November 24, 2023 will address the following questions, among others: How can natural CO2 sinks and peatlands in particular be preserved? What measures can be taken to improve carbon storage and avoid carbon emissions? What can cities and municipalities without peatlands in their area do to protect peatlands?
Examples will be shown of how cities and municipalities can contribute to peatland protection by rewetting or by not using peat products.
